When
wanting to know whether it is safe to engage in physical activity when
your sick, follow the
above/below-the-neck rule. If your symptoms are above
the neck like a runny nose, sneezing or sore throat, then you are safe
to engage in low-intensity activity.
If your symptoms are
below the neck, like diarrhea, intense coughing, vomiting, or fever,
then the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest letting the sickness run its
course before engaging in physical activity.
